Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the Burlington
School District of Vermont has quickly realized value and efficiencies
during the two months since the district went live with Tyler's Munis®enterprise
resource planning (ERP) solution.
The school district chose Munis to replace an in-house system that was
developed decades ago, required significant customization and didn't
integrate with other vital data and management systems.
The Burlington School District selected several Munis applications,
including human capital management, financial management and payroll
processing. The district also plans to conduct its budgeting cycle with Munis
to greatly improve the accuracy of its overall budget process.
"With Munis, we have converted to a 21st century program that will help
the school district manage its finances much better going forward," said
Burlington School District Superintendent Jeanné Collins. "Munis gives
us greater control of our budget codes and functions, including
electronic approval of requisitions with business rules that don't allow
users to go over budget, which creates more accountability and ownership
of spending by the front-end user. Also, the immediacy of the
computerized system gives up-to-the-minute detail, which allows for
greater controls and ease of use."
The school district is also relying heavily on Munis to enhance the
payroll process, including being able to send email notification of
direct deposits to employees, which saves the district time, paper and
postage. The use of TylerForms
lets the district access copies of direct deposit advices or paycheck
stubs directly from an employee's record, which saves significant time
in responding to employees when they have questions.
"Our previous system was built in-house about 30 years ago. It was
cumbersome and had significant customized programming, which was
challenging when upgrades were performed, and it required a consultant
to run reports," Collins said. "Unlike our prior system, Munis is fully
integrated to HR and payroll, which allows for greater efficiency and
streamlining of those functions. We have found Munis to be very
intuitive and easy to use."
Burlington Schools serve nearly 4,000 students in grades prekindergarten
to 12, across 10 campuses. The district's mission is to prepare all
students for success in college, careers and citizenship through access
to challenging core academic instruction, enriched arts, math, sciences
and wellness experiences, and opportunities to develop 21st century
skills.
"The Burlington School District is committed to improving technology's
impact on both student learning and the district's effectiveness in
serving its constituents, including students, parents and employees,"
said Richard E. Peterson Jr., president of Tyler's ERP & School
Division. "The rapid and positive reviews that Munis has received from
the Burlington School District further validates the value that Tyler
and its systems generate for customers. The relationship we have already
built with the school district gives our team a great sense of
fulfillment and we appreciate the efforts of the district's employees
that resulted in this success."
