Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that Peoria County,
Ill., has selected Tyler's Odyssey® court and jail management
system to fully integrate the county's civil and criminal courts, jail
and judicial administrative offices onto a single solution. The
intuitive Odyssey
environment will replace a decades-old system and will provide users
with seamless access to both civil and criminal court data from a single
system rather than multiple systems that require separate log-ins.
Peoria County sought an integrated system that would help eliminate
manual processes while simplifying access for judges and other members
of the justice system to relevant data such as court cases and inmate
dispositions. Various Peoria County offices will be able to readily
share information with one another because Odyssey enables authorized
users to see a more complete view of a person's interactions within the
justice system. By having complete information at their fingertips,
court, clerk, prosecutor, jail, and probation officers can serve the
community more effectively.
Peoria County Administrator Lori Curtis Luther likes the system for its
efficiency: "Right now each department with a role in the justice system
- Sheriff's Office, Circuit Clerk, Probation, etc. - works with
individualized computer systems, completely independent of each other.
If an employee in Court Scheduling needs to check a client's probation
schedule, for example, she would have to call the Probation Department
to get that information. Once the new system is operational, the court
scheduler will be able to access that information with just the click of
a button. This system is long overdue and I am excited to partner with
Tyler Technologies on the installation of such a valuable time-saving
tool."
After a comprehensive and competitive bidding process, Peoria County's
selection committee chose Odyssey for several reasons, including Tyler's
significant track record of successful county and statewide
implementations. In addition to integrating courts and the jail into a
single system, Peoria County also selected Odyssey SessionWorks®
Judge Edition, a powerful, electronic system for the courtroom that
presents data digitally to judges on the bench via touch-screen
technology.
The contract between Tyler and Peoria County includes software licensing
fees, professional services and a multi-year maintenance agreement. In
addition to the SessionWorks modules, Peoria County will also use
Odyssey applications, including case management, enterprise content
management, financial management and e-Filing.
"Peoria County's progressive nature and drive for efficiency were
evident in how the elected officials worked toward the same goal of a
completely integrated solution across their entire justice system," said
Bruce Graham, president of Tyler's Courts & Justice Division. "Peoria
County also wanted to protect its investment, and Tyler's evergreen
philosophy does just that by including all future Odyssey updates as
part of the annual maintenance fee. We look forward to a productive
implementation and a strong long-term relationship with Peoria County."
Peoria County is located about 150 miles southwest of Chicago and has
approximately 186,000 residents.
