Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the city of
Joliet, Ill., has signed a three-year SaaS agreement for Tyler's Munis®
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to replace the city's more
than 20-year-old public administration software system.
City officials chose Munis
because it significantly enhances functionality, service and
transparency into city services far beyond its legacy solution of
disparate systems. By implementing Munis, the city will be able to
deliver efficient community services, including online bill pay,
permitting and licensing, as well as other Web-based, self service,
citizen-to-government interactions.
"A centerpiece of our multi-year IT strategy was finding a new public
administration software suite that could tie all administration
functions together in a fully integrated solution designed to improve
service to the community, and we have that in Munis," said Scott
Kinsella, the city of Joliet's director of IT and chief information
officer. "We found Munis to be the best commercial solution at the
lowest cost, and it supports our goal of providing better service to
citizens, enhancing staff productivity, and reducing risks related to
information technology, which is accomplished with the SaaS delivery
model."
Having Munis delivered on a SaaS platform reduces upfront costs to the
city of Joliet, and provides access to modern Munis technology without
having to invest capital in and manage physical infrastructure. The city
expects a solid return on investment with the SaaS-based Munis solution,
and believes that a proven commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS)
solution is a better model for using technology to improve city
services, compared to continually managing and updating onsite
infrastructure.
Munis was selected after a competitive review process. In choosing
Tyler, city officials cited Munis' successful track record and said of
all the solutions reviewed, Munis was the most comprehensive as an
all-in-one solution including software, services and hosting.
"The city of Joliet communicated a clear need to change its approach to
technology, and we're pleased they selected Munis to help provide
improved customer service and staff efficiency by eliminating manual
tasks that slow government processes," said Richard E. Peterson Jr.,
president of Tyler's ERP & School Division. "By choosing Munis on a SaaS
platform, the city is proving itself to be forward-thinking and an
excellent steward of taxpayers' dollars. Tyler is looking forward to
working with the city of Joliet for many years, and to delivering on the
promise of Munis being the best solution for the city's needs."
