Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with the city
of Huntsville, Alabama, for Tyler's Munis® enterprise
resource planning (ERP)
solution, which will provide the city with a fully integrated financial
and human resources system. The agreement includes related professional
services, training and support.
Huntsville chose Munis
because of its proven technology platform, system functionality that met
the city's technological requirements and Tyler's success with other
public sector clients.
Munis was reviewed as part of Huntsville's plan to modernize and enhance
numerous business systems and processes, as it worked to replace aging
systems with leading-edge technologies that easily integrate with
current IT platforms. As a comprehensive ERP system, Munis not only
addressed the city's functionality requirements, but it also met
Huntsville's high standards of service.
"Tyler's Munis solution empowers the city to fully integrate key
finance, budget and human resources functions and provide our employees
with information-rich systems and business protocols that help them
perform more efficiently," said Huntsville Finance Director Randy
Taylor. "With Munis, the city can begin to move away from the use of
paper and utilize electronic processes to streamline business processes,
which saves time and ultimately saves taxpayers money."
In addition, the city valued Tyler's evergreen philosophy, which
includes future Munis updates as part of annual maintenance at no
additional cost to Tyler clients.
"Newer technology is easier to maintain and is more dependable and
secure than the older legacy systems we have been using for the past two
decades," said Huntsville Director of Information and Technology
Services Bill Steiner. "Huntsville is a very forward-thinking,
technology-oriented city, and we're excited about our collaboration with
Tyler. We gain a solid, functional system with offsite disaster recovery
services that help minimize potential risk management issues."
As part of its selection process, Huntsville also considered vendors'
longevity and financial stability.
"We were pleased to demonstrate Munis' strong functional fit for the
city of Huntsville, as well as explain how Tyler's business model and
financial strength makes us a solid, long-term partner for the city,"
said Chris Hepburn, senior vice president of Tyler's ERP & School
Division. "Tyler provides clients with the same level of transparency
that taxpayers expect, and it's from that foundation of open
communication that Tyler builds meaningful relationships that deliver
value to municipalities and residents."
Huntsville has more than 2,200 employees serving approximately 180,000
residents. The city is consistently ranked among the best places to live
and work by national business publications, which often cite its
high-tech and well-educated population. For decades, Huntsville has
played an integral part of America's space and defense industries, and
it is home to the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal, NASA's Marshall Space
Flight Center, and Cummings Research Park.
