Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the city of
Yonkers and towns of Greenburgh and Ossining in New York have selected
the company's appraisal
services business to conduct property reassessments.
All three municipalities are members of Westchester County's Multiple
Municipal Reassessment Consortium (MMRC). The MMRC selected Tyler after
a competitive bidding process. The goal of the MMRC is to ensure all
property is valued uniformly and bring a fairer property tax to
taxpayers through reassessment of all properties.
The agreements collectively are valued at approximately $9 million,
including reassessments of all real property; it's the first time in
decades that the municipalities' property values will be revalued. In
addition to data collection and appeal services, Tyler will also use its
iasWorld® appraisal and tax administration software for data
management during the project. iasWorld Public Access will also be used
during the project to provide taxpayers with project updates and, as the
project progresses, a gateway to access property and tax data online.
Greenburgh, Yonkers and Ossining have a total of about 75,000
residential and commercial properties in Westchester County, a northern
suburb of New York City. The reassessment projects will be complete in
2016.
"The MMRC is committed to delivering fairness, equity and transparency
to taxpayers, and we will work closely with each municipality, under
direction of the assessor, during the reassessment process to help them
deliver exactly that," said David J. Johnson, president of Tyler's CLT
Appraisal Services. "This is a great opportunity for Yonkers, Greenburgh
and Ossining to set fair market values, and we're pleased they selected
Tyler as a partner."
Tyler is the country's oldest, largest and only national mass appraisal
services firm. Through its appraisal services business, founded in 1938,
it has successfully completed projects in 46 states, including 23 state
capitals and has appraised morethan 30 million parcels. Tyler's
Appraisal & Tax Division recently relocated its northeast regional
office to Tarrytown, New York, to meet the expanding needs of clients in
the area.
