Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the Superior
Court of California, County of Sonoma, has selected Tyler's Odyssey®
court case management system to unify case management and streamline
operations throughout the court.
Odyssey was selected by the Sonoma Superior Court after a competitive
review. A fundamental requirement for the court case management system
is that it has the functionality to integrate with the current data
management applications developed and maintained since the 1980s by the
county, known as the Integrated Justice System (IJS). IJS serves the
county's key justice partner offices: the district attorney, probation,
public defender, courts, sheriff records, detention and law enforcement.
Odyssey is replacing the IJS's court system for all case types, which
includes criminal, civil, traffic, family, juvenile and probate.
"Tyler's Odyssey has been selected as a tool to advance our court's
goals in carrying out our core case management functions in the most
cost-effective manner and leveraging on modern technology to enhance
access and e-commence capabilities; this is a long time coming and we
can't wait to implement it," said Honorable Kenneth Gnoss, presiding
judge of the Sonoma Superior Court.
The court's license agreement incorporates all of Odyssey's core court
capabilities, including case management, public access, document
management and financial management. The court also selected Odyssey
SessionWorks® Judge Edition, a powerful, electronic courtroom
system that presents judges with data digitally on the bench via
touch-screen technology, as well as Odyssey SessionWorksClerk
Edition to aid in courtroom efficiency and support business best
practices.
Sonoma Superior Court used the state's Master Services Agreement (MSA)
which gives California's 58 superior courts the ability to purchase
Odyssey at pre-negotiated terms, conditions and pricing outlined in the
MSA. The MSA was developed by a group of IT leaders and court managers
within the California judicial system as a way for the state's superior
courts to efficiently purchase a case management system.
Located about 50 miles north of San Francisco, Sonoma County has
approximately 500,000 residents and is part of the state's storied "Wine
Country" region; its county seat is the city of Santa Rosa. The county
recently licensed Tyler's Eagle recording and document management
solution, and has used Tyler's AES residential computer-assisted mass
appraisal (CAMA) solution for California since 2010. To date, 19
California superior courts have announced that they have chosen Tyler's
Odyssey court management solution.
In total, Odyssey serves more than 100 million residents, a third of the
U.S. population, in more than 600 counties across 21 states. Odyssey has
been successfully deployed statewide in Indiana, Minnesota, New
Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota; statewide
implementations in Idaho, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington
are currently underway.
