Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with Canada's
city of Kingston, Ontario, to implement Microsoft Dynamics®
AX, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution with public sector
functionality that Tyler Technologies jointly developed with Microsoft®.
The contract includes software licenses, related implementation
services, training and support.
Kingston conducted a competitive review process before selecting Tyler.
The city will use Microsoft Dynamics AX to improve data-sharing
capabilities, eliminate manual processes, improve access to information
and follow financial management best practices. Kingston will also be
able to access provincial and federal reporting within Microsoft
Dynamics AX, as well as processing for the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).
HST is in effect in five of the 10 Canadian provinces and is collected
by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Built for the business of governments, schools and not-for-profit
agencies, Microsoft Dynamics AX, with its out-of-the-box public sector
capabilities developed by Tyler and Microsoft, includes core functions
such as financials, project and cost management, supplier relationship
management, and human resources management.
The city of Kingston has a population of 120,000 and spans 173 square
miles. Two municipally owned utility companies, Kingston Hydro and
Utilities Kingston, are included in the project.
For decades, Tyler has successfully developed, deployed and supported
software solutions exclusively for the public sector. As part of the
agreement between Tyler and Microsoft, Tyler is an authorized reseller
of Microsoft Dynamics AX and delivers implementation, software support
and other standard services.
