Wake County, North Carolina, has signed a 10-year SaaS agreement with
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) for its EnerGovTMpermitting and land management suite to replace several aging
systems. EnerGov, part of Tyler's planning, regulatory and maintenance
solutions, will provide the county with the ability to enter, track and
analyze development-related activities, and provide a central portal
through which all key internal and external stakeholders will access
status information of past and present actions taken on a given piece of
land or property.
The county conducted a competitive, multi-departmental review to find a
Web-based solution to automate paper-based processes, improve
communication among staff and citizens, and streamline workflow
activities. County leadership also wanted technology that would fully
automate the various interdepartmental activities around land
development and management, resulting in an efficient, seamless review
and approval process.
North Carolina's second largest county ultimately selected Tyler's
EnerGov permitting
and land management software. Wake County leadership saw value in
the solution's flexibility and open architecture, allowing it to grow
with the county, which is growing by an average of 25,000 new citizens
each year. Also, having EnerGov delivered via software as a service will
save county IT staff time, thus allowing them to focus on other
projects. As an enterprisewide system, EnerGov will help Wake County
increase interdepartmental collaboration so it can deliver the best
possible customer service.
"We are excited as we enter into this long-term partnership with Tyler,"
said Wake County Chief Information Officer Bill Greeves. "We anticipate
that this solution will provide much greater freedom and flexibility to
the citizens and businesses of Wake County and it will also enable us to
streamline internally, making the permitting process and the
organization even more efficient."
Wake County, which is home to North Carolina State University and the
state's capital city of Raleigh, has a population of more than 1 million
and employs approximately 4,050 people. The county boasts a unique mix
of urban cities and rural small towns, as well as housing one of the
nation's largest research parks with 120 companies.
"As a large organization, Wake County needed a sophisticated system to
provide a portal for centralized access to business operations and
EnerGov directly meets that need," said Brett Cate, president of Tyler's
Local Government Division. "By choosing the SaaS model, Wake County is
doing everything it can to create efficiencies and increase its staff
productivity. We're proud to help Wake County create greater access to
information for employees and residents alike, while remaining committed
to excellent customer service."
