Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a US$10 million
agreement with BC Assessment, based in Victoria, British Columbia, for
Tyler's iasWorld®
property appraisal and tax administration software. The contract
includes software licenses, implementation, maintenance and support for
the property valuation functions.
BC Assessment is a Crown corporation for the Province of British
Columbia that creates uniform assessments and trusted property
information. The province's most recent assessment included nearly two
million properties collectively valued at approximately $1.3 trillion,
which raised more than $7 billion in property taxes in support of local
community services.
BC Assessment's legacy assessment system was reaching the end of its
useful life, and a modern system was needed to accommodate increased
workloads and customer demand. BC Assessment wanted appraisal software
from a well-established and financially strong company that could become
a long-term technology partner for both BC Assessment and British
Columbia.
After a competitive review process, BC Assessment selected Tyler's
iasWorld CAMA™ solution, which helps jurisdictions improve
assessment quality, reduce operational and overhead costs, enhance data
flow between agencies, and improve employee productivity. iasWorld has
been implemented in 25 U.S. states, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and the
Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
BC Assessment purchased several add-ons for the software, including
iasWorld Field Mobile™ for collecting and reviewing property
data in the field; iasWorld Inquiry & Appeals™ to better
manage property appeals, from informal filings to formal or judicial
appeals; and the iasWorld® SmartFile integrated solution for
capturing virtually any type of data electronically.
"Our relationships in technology are aimed at continuously improving the
accuracy and efficiency of our work," says David Highfield, interim
president and CEO of BC Assessment. "By partnering with Tyler
Technologies, we will have a greatly enhanced software system that is
more adaptable to the evolving needs of both our employees and
customers."
"We're proud to partner with BC Assessment, and we look forward to
blending our proven best practices with BC Assessment's expertise," said
Andrew D. Teed, president of Tyler's Appraisal & Tax Division. "By
modernizing their software systems, Tyler is helping BC Assessment
provide a more efficient and better overall experience for British
Columbia property owners."
BC Assessment will benefit from Tyler's evergreen perpetual licensing
approach that provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software
enhancements without an additional relicensing fee, ensuring all systems
are the latest technology.
