Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a software-as-a-service
(SaaS) agreement with San Juan County, New Mexico, for Tyler's Munis®
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. The agreement includes
hosting services, support and related professional services.
San Juan County needed to replace its legacy financial system because it
was nearing end of life and was no longer supported by the vendor says
Kim Carpenter, San Juan County CEO. "We sought leading-edge technology
that would eliminate data silos and duplicated data entry while
increasing reporting capabilities, creating workflow efficiencies, and
providing staff and vendors self-service access. The county also wanted
a solution that could enhance how residents, employees and businesses
interact with the county now, while being flexible enough to grow with
the county far into the future."
After a competitive review, San Juan County chose to partner with Tyler
Technologies, which has implemented Munis in several New Mexico
jurisdictions. The county selected core Munis applications, including
financial, human resources and payroll management. The county also chose
Tyler Content Manager, which transforms paper-based information into
electronic documents, further streamlining processes.
"We strive to be as transparent as possible with our residents," says
Commission Chairman Scott Eckstein. "We value how Munis complements
these efforts by enabling us to improve data access and make the best
use of taxpayer dollars. In addition to Tyler's deep public sector
experience, we like how Munis is ahead of the curve in terms of
providing technology that will help us better interact with residents
over the next several years. Tyler's ability to deliver Munis in a SaaS
environment was another big differentiator for us because we feel it's
the right time for us to adopt cloud-based technology as a way of
reducing costs while enhancing access to the ERP system. A SaaS
agreement will also allow us to redeploy resources to better serve our
citizens."
Munis' integrated nature will enable the northwestern New Mexico county
to consolidate disparate systems and help improve employee communication
across departments.
"Governments need solutions that are developed specifically for their
unique processes that support their ability to serve their constituents,
which is why municipalities like San Juan County gravitate toward Tyler
Technologies and our singular focus on the public sector," said Chris
Hepburn, president of Tyler's ERP & School Division. "Tyler is pleased
to add San Juan County to its growing list of Munis clients in New
Mexico, and we are committed to making the county's transition to Munis
very successful."
San Juan County, located in northwest New Mexico, has more than 700
employees and approximately 130,000 residents. The county also uses
Tyler's EagleTM
recording and property tax assessment solution.
