Tyler's Excellence Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate
excellence in deploying Tyler software in novel and impactful ways that
extend best practices. Award submissions were evaluated by a panel of
Tyler leadership, and entries were judged on business value, maturity,
innovation and relevance to other public sector organizations.
Additional criteria met by award winners include:

Tyler's Munis 2016 Excellence Award winners are St. Louis County,
Missouri; city of Victorville, California; and St. Tammany Parish,
Louisiana.
St. Louis County, a Munis user since 2008, turned to Tyler University's
online training platform for continuing education, to help its employees
stay current with annual software releases. With this online resource,
employees are able to log in at their convenience, select from hundreds
of courses and learn at their own pace. St. Louis County estimates that
Tyler University has saved more than 22 days of training in the last
year and greatly reduced the number of internal software support calls.
St. Louis County has more than 4,610 employees located across 523 square
miles in eastern Missouri.
The city of Victorville implemented Munis Employee Self Service and has
greatly reduced data entry burdens on the city's human resources (HR)
department. During the transition, they provided hands-on training and
expanded computer access to enable more than 500 city employees to enter
their timecard data and benefit selections online. This transition has
reduced payroll processing from ten days to three - a savings of more
than 1,300 manual hours per year. The city of Victorville is located in
southern California with a population of 122,000.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office turned to Tyler for help with their
ad valorem tax - or property tax - collection. The parish had been using
the Munis financial management solution for many years prior to
implementing the property tax module and, because of the integration,
they were able to become the consolidated tax collector for the parish.
The office now collects property tax for all cities and towns within the
parish, as well as the unincorporated areas, resulting in the collection
of 135,000 tax bills with 128 different millage and parcel fees, making
the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office the only tax collector of its
kind in the state of Louisiana.
Tyler Excellence Award winners were honored in May at the Connect 2016
user conference in Phoenix, where they were presented with the award and
given the opportunity to share their best practices and lessons learned
with their public sector peers.
