Sage Data Security is now Tyler Cybersecurity
PORTLAND, Maine (Oct. 21, 2019) – Sage Data Security, which was acquired by Tyler Technologies (NYSE: TYL) in May 2018, announced its official name change to Tyler Cybersecurity in front of nearly 200 clients and industry professionals at last week’s CyberCrime Symposium in Portland, Maine.
Sage was founded in 2002 and offers a suite of services that supports an entire cybersecurity lifecycle, including program development, education and training, threat detection, technology testing, advisory services, and digital forensics. The investment by Tyler has enabled Sage to further its mission of protecting the national infrastructure while expanding its mission to serve the public sector. As Tyler Cybersecurity, it will continue to support private sector needs and maximize public sector opportunities through education and service engagements.
“Since the beginning, our mission has been to help protect our national infrastructure. We believe that cybersecurity is a civic responsibility,” said Rick Simonds, general manager and vice president of Tyler Cybersecurity. “Our decision to rebrand to Tyler Cybersecurity has not changed this.”
Cyberattacks targeted at local governments have steadily increased over the years. The decision to join forces allows Tyler to provide clients with advanced cybersecurity services that improve their cyber resiliency, while enabling Tyler Cybersecurity to continue innovating and developing its impressive suite of cybersecurity solutions.
“The importance of regular cybersecurity hygiene cannot be overstated with the pace of change in today’s threat environment, and we are positioned to meet the challenge head on and strengthen the defenses of our clients and the communities they serve,” Simonds continued.
Tyler Cybersecurity has invested in numerous improvements since the acquisition. It recently launched a new portal for Tyler Detect, its Managed Threat Detection Service, and has made multiple enhancements to professional service offerings, including an updated Configuration and Vulnerability Assessment (CAVA) methodology and new remote collection capabilities for vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
With this change, the business unit sees opportunity. Tyler Cybersecurity will continue to work towards creating solutions that both satisfy regulatory drivers and mitigate risk as it builds regularity and consistency in testing, assessing, and analyzing clients’ cybersecurity posture while still relying on the element of human expertise.
Increased efficiencies and improved accuracy will ensure that Tyler Cybersecurity can meet the changing and different needs of the private and public sectors in the immediate and long-term future.
